From the day I saw our house when we were house hunting, I knew this space would be a theater if we bought it.  This house had a garage that was two cars wide, but half of the garage was also twice as deep.  The people living in the house had a boat and trailer parked back in the space.

My dream was always to have a theater in my home, and I saw this extra space and knew what I would do with it.  My wife wasn't sure about whether she liked the floor plan though, so we were undecided whether we wanted to buy it or not.  After we talked about it for a couple days we decided to make an offer and to make a long story short, we ended up buying the house.

We moved in in November, and I knew I needed to have my theater done by Super Bowl Sunday.  That gave me almost 3 months to get it done.  One problem though, I didn't know anything about building walls, building floors, insulation, etc.  And, the biggest problem of all, I need to punch a hole through the wall in the dining room into what was going to be the theater for a door.

The room wasn't completely done by Super Bowl Sunday, but it was functional.  I had 3 rows of stadium seating, a 720p HD Projector, an 8' wide screen, and I moved my Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound system in.

In the process, I got to buy some new tools like a Sawz-all and I learned a lot about home maintenance.

The room has been painted a dark red (maroon or burgundy), the floor is covered with dark red indoor/outdoor carpet, and the walls are slowly getting filled with framed movie posters.  All-in-all, I am very proud of my theater.  It is used daily to watch movies, sporting events, or play XBox 360 video games.

Eventually, I will actually get some photos posted.
